The Virginia Aquarium is excited to welcome your child to our Summer Camps! This quick guide will provide you with information that you will need to make your child’s camp experience as rewarding as possible. Please read through the guide carefully for details on what to bring to camp and the check-in/out and drop-off/pick up process.

We look forward to meeting your camper this summer for a fun Virginia Aquarium camp experience!

Packing List

Please place your camper’s first and last name on all personal belongings. We also advise applying sunscreen prior to their arrival.

  • Lunch

  • Snack: one for half-day camps, two for full-day camps

  • Change of clothes*

  • Medications, inhaler and/or EpiPen

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Fishing pole (for Go Fish! only)

  • Closed-toed shoes

  • Water shoes or old sneakers for camps that involve entering the water*

*Applies to campers in Cool Catches, This Way to the Bay, Wandering Around Virginia's Environments, and Marine Explorers. Participants in these camps should also bring an extra change of shoes for in-water activities. Crocs are not permitted as water shoes but may be worn during other activities.

Offsite Camps

Older campers may travel offsite to locations such as the Eastern Shore, state parks, and other facilities. Locations and activities are subject to change weather permitting. Offsite camps include:

  • Go Fish!
  • Marine Explorers
  • Sharks, Whales, and Turtles

North Building Camp Parking, Check-In and Pickup

Guardians will need to park in the main parking lot next to the North Building. We ask that you please escort your camper through the member entrance to the classroom for check-in. Check-in will begin at 8:45AM. Please do not park in the loop for morning drop-off.

Pick up will take place outside at the bus loop at the building entrance. You may drive into the loop for easy pickup. Campers will need to be signed in and out of camp by an approved adult with photo ID. Please do not pull into the loop until campers are lined up outside. Parking in the loop before campers are present is prohibited.

North Building Camps with Pickup at 1PM

  • Scales & Scutes: Studying Reptiles
  • STEM Investigations

  • Cool Catches

South Building Camp Parking, Check-In and Pickup

Check-in will begin at 8:45AM. Guardians, please park in the main parking lot next to the South Building and escort your camper to the front entrance.

Pick up will take place outside at the bus loop at the building entrance. You may drive into the loop for easy pickup, but parking in the loop prior to pick up is prohibited. Please only enter the loop when campers are already lined up outside. If you choose to park for pick up, please meet campers at the end of the loop and not at the main entrance. Campers will need to be signed out by an adult on the approved pickup list with a valid ID.
