Virginia Beach, VA – This winter season, the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center will begin whale watching boat tours on December 20, 2024. Guests will experience a two-and-a-half-hour boat ride on the Atlantic Ocean in search of humpback whales and bottlenose dolphins.
Tours are narrated by experienced naturalist who will answer guests’ questions and share information about whales, dolphins, and a variety of seabirds and waterfowl. The whale watching season is scheduled to tour until March 9, 2025.
The Virginia Aquarium’s boat, Atlantic Explorer, is equipped with a bathroom, climate-controlled cabin, and indoor and outdoor seating. The boat also has snacks and refreshments available for purchase. Tickets are $34.95 for guests two-years-old and over. Members receive a discounted rate of $32.95. A portion of all ticket sales supports the Aquarium’s education, research, and conservation initiatives.
The Aquarium Boat Dock is located at the Virginia Aquarium, 717 General Booth Boulevard, on Owls Creek. Recommended clothing includes layers. Boat tours are weather permitting, and whale sightings are not guaranteed.
